Fine arts gallery submission number one:
I am trained and educated with professional experience in Corporate graphic design since 2019. I consider myself a designer and illustrator, but to expel so much creative energy and mental power, I need something to inspire me. I try to spend every early morning on my outdoor studio painting to inspire myself. This is necessary to ensure full creativity and quality for client work.
The Origin.
LifeSpan (50"x24") acrylic
Life span was the first painting I did on a semi-large scale. This was the beginning of my new morning routine. This is meant to express the stages of joy and life starting young but purposeless, aging and becoming gray and apathetic, finding passion and purpose, then finally the youthful faith of believing in God. Without a childlike faith, our souls can dry out and wither.
This painting was the beginning of my facial structure study. It is clearly not anatomically perfect, but it gave me a strong interest on how bold stokes can give sides to a complex shape by keeping lighting in mind. I then Started to dive into impressionism.
Untitled (16"x20") acrylic
After painting for a little bit I painted this guy. I've been painting for almost 3 years now and this is still one of my favorite pieces. This became the standard that I wanted to meet regarding the color palette, textures and anatomy. I love the wonky proportions and this gave my my background for technique.
Old Memories (40"x50") acrylic and modeling paste
Old memories, or otherwise known as nothing but memories, Was a piece done for my brother and wife for their wedding gift. It was a texture study and my first big piece.
Bill and Gracie (40"x55") acrylic
Abstract Study (40"x50") oils, acrylic, gesso, Modeling paste, home made texture.
I have learned to appreciate the unappreciated artists out there. Abstract artists. Painting an abstract piece with solid theory and composition is extremely challenging. I have been working on this painting for over 6 months now and have painted over 6 layers.
Benny Clem (40"x60") acrylic
