A great friend of mine, Robby, found me wearing my camera around my neck watching Phoenix's blazing sunset. He was excited to tell me about his new bike and asked if I'd want to take photos of him some time that month. I looked up at the sunset as it peaked, and we both looked at the parking garage only 100 feet away. The two of us booked it to the top of the garage and we took an impromptu photo shoot within 15 minutes.
The strongest challenge while shooting during sunset it balancing the desire of having the sunset in the shot and having the subject well lit. Another challenge is that I was limited to my one 50mm film lens with no auto focus. dynamic shots with dark lighting and manual focus was frustrating.
desaturating an image where the sunset is potentially present seems counter intuitive. But I knew I had a visual tone I wanted to meet. The grey clouds gave a presence to the classic Harley Davidson brand stance. Using black and white vintage editing styles came out with a cool style.
