This travel journal entry begins with heading west from Redding Ca. towards the coastal town of Eureka. That 3 am wake up call provided for the most blissful environment of empty forest roads, perfect to remove the lens cap and begin the hunt for that perfect photo.
Somewhere around the border of Oregon and California is the perfect mixture of furtile agracultural land, sprawling redwood giants, and beach openings and curate a wonderful morning drive. I was lucky enough to to catch the first rays of sun peeking over the endless pine forrests.
Of course, the beach. What can be more peaceful, yet so full of wrath? A quick pull off onto the sand went from a simple photo opportunity to 4.5 hours getting myself unstuck from sinking sand. The adventure, and the generous people I met in the process made it worth it, but definitely a lesson learned.
As we head up the 101, we close our trip out at dusk. The sun is down behind Salem Or, where I stop for the night. Here are some photos that wrap up day one.
